The role
Reporting to the People & Performance Lead, the People & Performance Specialist is the expert in managing complex, sensitive and high‑risk employee relations matters end‑to‑end. You’ll apply specialist expertise to support a fair, consistent and just culture, partnering closely with leaders when matters escalate beyond standard processes.
This role is ideal for someone who values sound judgement, structured case management and problem-solving skills while maintaining a strong people‑first mindset.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead end‑to‑end case management of complex performance, conduct, grievance and show cause processes with confidence and care
- Provide expert coaching and guidance to leaders navigating sensitive and high‑risk people situations helping them make fair, timely and defensible decisions
- Ensure defensible, policy‑aligned and compliant outcomes balancing risk, fairness and organizational values
- Attend and support performance and disciplinary meetings, providing upfront preparation and practical follow‑up that strengthens leader capability
- Maintain high‑quality ER documentation and audit‑ready case files underpinning transparency
- Identify emerging trends, risks and hotspots through People & Performance data and insights
- Contribute to development of policy, process and tools, continuously driving continuous improvement of qualify and consistency
- Deliver or co‑deliver capability‑building sessions for leaders that build confidence and competence
What You’ll Bring
- A tertiary qualification in HR or a related field preferred, plus extensive HR Generalist experience with a focus on employee relations
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation, industrial instruments and NDIS compliance
- Ability to advise and coach leaders on performance management using relevant tools and frameworks
- Significant experience in developing, implementing, and facilitating employee relations processes Experience in a unionised environment and multiple industrial instruments
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and build trusted relationships within a diverse and geographically dispersed organisation
